I cannot find my citation when I search by citation number
Level 1: Retry Your Citation Number Search
Make sure you are entering your search criteria correctly:
-
Enter the Citation Number. This number appears at the top-right corner of your citation.
-
Select Magisterial District Court as the Court Type.
-
Enter the Offense Date. The same date should be entered in both fields. If your citation is printed on yellow carbon paper, look for this date in Box 41. For other citations, the offense date appears about halfway down the left side of the form.
-
Leave the other fields blank and click the SEARCH button to review your search results.
Level 2: Try a Name Search
Try searching for the citation by the defendant's name.
-
Hover over the Pay Online menu, which appears in the light blue bar across the top of any UJS Portal page, and click on Traffic Ticket or Court Costs.
-
Click on the Select By dropdown and select Participant Name.
-
Select Magisterial District Court as the Court Type.
-
Enter the Last Name of the defendant listed on the citation.
-
Enter the First Name of the defendant listed on the citation.
-
Enter the Court County where the citation is filed. If your citation is printed on yellow carbon paper, look for the county name in Box 44. For other citations, the county appears two boxes to the left of the Total Due box.
-
Leave the other fields blank and click the SEARCH button to review your search results.
If you are unable to find your case, try modifying your search.
Level 3: Modify Your Name Search
Complete the following steps:
-
Click the CLEAR button.
-
Reselect Person from the Search By dropdown.
-
Reselect Magisterial District Court from the Court Type dropdown.
-
Reenter the Last Name of the defendant listed on the citation.
-
Reenter the First Name of the defendant listed on the citation.
-
Enter the defendant’s Date of Birth.
-
Leave the other fields blank and click the SEARCH button to review your search results.
-
If this search does not locate the citation, repeat Steps 1-6 but, instead of date of birth, search by the zip code associated to the defendant’s address.
Note: If you cannot locate your citation, it is possible the court has not entered it into their computer system. If you have not waited at least two business days since the citation was issued, then wait until that time has elapsed and try searching again. If you are still unable to locate the citation after this period, contact the court for more information.
Level 4: Still Unable to Find Your Case?

The court’s phone number might appear at the top-left of the citation. If not, refer to the Magisterial District Court phone listing. Clicking this link opens a new webpage.
